In September 2025 the Public Transport Authority announced it would be ending its lease of the Beach Street Carpark with the City of Fremantle. They had planned to demolish the iconic Captain Munchies Skatepark that was built back in 1999. There was no community consultation or discussion about this.

After swift and effective lobbying by The West Australian Skateboarding Association, the decision was overturned and the skatepark was saved.

We are now working with the City of Fremantle to upgrade and improve Munchies skatepark including repairs, lights, and ammenities.
